Do you have questions about CaringStay? Whether you’re looking for help at home or a place to recover, we’ve compiled our most common questions and answers here to help guide your decision.
General
A 5% Credit card fee is non-refundable. We may charge a cancellation fee or withhold a portion of your deposit, depending on the circumstances. We always aim to be fair and flexible, and believe our guests will be the same.
Please refer to our Policies page for further information. If you cancel your booking within the allowable cancellation period – 2 days before the start of your booked date, you may be eligible for a refund.
We do not provide medical care, we offer food, support and companionship.

- Change dressings or inspect wounds
- Handle, offer or advise on medicines
- Suggest exercises or sleeping patterns

- Bathing, physically monitor or be present in toilet activities or bed-bathing, unless arranged in advance
Yes, we can arrange transport for guests upon request. We can arrange pick-up and drop-off and any other require transport.
Yes, we provide free Wi-Fi access for our guests staying with us. Staying connected is important, and we want to make sure our Guests can be confident with this.
Supporters
A "supporter" for CaringStay is someone who provides care, time, and effort to assist people who need a bit of help.. Our Supporters are mature, dependable, and kind individuals with genuine sympathy for those who require extra help. They also had references and MoJ checks. Our supporters are nice people.
Our Supporters do not offer medical treatment as such, and so are not necessarily qualified. If you prefer qualified support for a particular assignment, we will try and locate some for you, but this is not really our thing.
That’s an excellent question. All our Supporters are reference checked and MoJ checked. We interview them for the role as provided by the client. The client choses from a short-list we have drawn up. We give recommendations but the client decides.
They are reference-checked and Ministry-of-Justice checked.
We reach out to our network. We have trusted partners with whom we work to identify good supporters, and we get many direct approaches
The support workers contract directly to a trusted partner. Thus, they are independent contractors not employees, contracted for the specific work required. They are paid fairly and promptly.
CaringStay to You Pricing
CSTY pricing varies depending on where you are, what you want and for how long.
There is a minimum charge of $100.
Here are a few examples of recent assignments. These are just to give you a general idea - your quote might be higher or lower depending on the details of your request.
Example 1 – Full-day support for a disabled man
A supporter was booked to provide a trial 8 hours of full-service cover. This included dressing, bathing, mobility support and mealtime assistance.
The success of the trial has led to week-long cover, booked
Price: $370
Example 2 – House check while owner was away
Over a couple of days, a supporter did three round trips (12 km total) to check on a house, water the plants and feed a cat.
Price: $100 (min charge)
Example 3 – Home help after surgery
A wife recovering from surgery needed light support around the home. A 3-hour visit was arranged, 3 times a week
Price: $417.45
Example 4 – Overnight presence for 10 nights
From 5:30 pm to 7:30 am, a supporter stayed overnight to provide confidence, and be on hand if needed while family carer was away.
Price: $322 per night, $3,220
Example 5 - twice-weekly meal provision and light housework, 2 hours each time.
For elderly couple living in Christchurch countyside.
Price: $80 x 2 = $160 / week
